Sketchy (BTR-077) is the debut album from The Dead Beats Club, a collective of musicians based in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Throwing it back to the sounds of the 60s, the songs take you on a summertime joyride through the neighborhood—somewhere between garage rock and psychedelic soul.

Written and arranged by Matty Delisle, he needed performers to bring his vision to life. After discovering twins Amiri & Rah Taylor (Blac Rabbit), who were performing Beatles songs on the NYC subway, he brought them in to track vocals. In a bit of a reverse-engineering approach, the music was then all tracked on top of the vocals, with Dallas Tidwell (formerly Red City Radio) behind the kit. Because things were tracked “out of order," the drums and percussion take on more of a lead role—resulting in rhythm-forward tunes.

The result is a medley of tracks that have never actually been performed, and likely never will be. You can enjoy it on a 12" black long-player, the way you would've sixty years ago, or you can also stream it on digital devices here.

This album has a street date of July 12, 2024. We think they'll be ready to ship earlier than this but we're in the business of expectations management. You will receive tracking information as soon as it's out the door. For any questions, please contact us here.
